I am OBSESSED with my Bullet Journal (otherwise known fondly as my BuJo).
I stumbled across bullet journaling on social media, it’s quite a trendy thing nowadays. To be honest I didn’t know if this sort of journaling would work for me as I would want to use it to get organized, but planners and other journals had failed me in the past. How would this one be any different?
I tend to drop off on planners and journals. Because most planners are dated for that specific year, I always felt bad about all the empty pages I left. It was always so sad to see the blank spaces and know that I didn’t utilize it. It was quite a waste. More than half of my day is committed to just work and there’s not much I can really plan to do within the remaining time in the day.
This is one of the main reasons I really love the bullet journal. I can create a planner or just keep a record of things on my own time. I can fully utilize the space in the journal while still having room for planning should I need it because a bullet journal can be whatever you need at whatever point you need it. I can fill in as I go and I love knowing that there are dozens of filled pages back to back. No empty spaces here! It brings me great joy to flip through the pages of my bujo and see the colorful script and organized pages.
If you also typically drop off like I do on planners, bullet journals are a great alternative. It’s not just for those who drop off though, it’s a great way to get down ideas in one place and decorate and express yourself.
If a bullet journal sounds like something you might want to try, check out the Bullet Journal website (bulletjournal.com) for a thorough breakdown on how everything works.
The basis of the bullet journal in my eyes is in the system of signifiers. You have different markings (bullets) that denote tasks, events and notes. By using this system you can organize your life into these verticals or more if you’re up to customizing!
Speaking of customizing, one of the most wonderful things about bullet journals is the decorations. People have gotten so creative and crafty with different themes for their journals. It’s colorful and beautiful. There’s a whole community on Instagram dedicated to bullet journal inspiration. Try the hash tag #bujo or #bujoinspiration to get started.
As mentioned, a bullet journal is just a great way to plan and write as you go, on your own time.

I’d love to see your bullet journal. I’m always looking for new inspiration!
